WHAT'S HAPPENING!

Youth Fellowship: We meet in the Youth Center most every Sunday evening from 6-8 PM for dinner, games and discussion – special events will take place from time to time and will be communicated in advance. Make sure Amanda Tomkins has your current e-mail address so you don’t miss anything! Friends are always welcome. Each youth must have a current Medical Form on file, and all offsite activities will require a signed Parental Consent Form.

• Sunday, October 5: 6:00 - 8:00 PM – Dinner/Discussion in the Youth Center
• Sunday, October 12: 6:00 -8:00 PM – Dinner/Discussion in the Youth Center
• Wednesday, October 15: 7:30 PM – Substance Abuse Presentation (adults only) in the Fellowship Hall More >>
• October 17-18: Overnight lock-in for middle schoolers in the Youth Center
• Sunday, October 19: 6:00 - 8:00 PM – Dinner/Discussion in the Youth Center
• Saturday, October 25: Special Halloween Event – no Sunday evening fellowship activities

Looking ahead to November…

The youth will again be participating in the Help the Homeless Walk in support of Miriam’s Kitchen on November 22. All participants will need to pre-register so go to www.helpthehomelessdc.org now, click on “Register” at the top of the page, then join the “Lewinsville Youth” team. Be sure to select “Miriam’s Kitchen” as the beneficiary of your fundraising efforts.

MISSION PROJECT 2009 - Registration for Winter Mission Project 2009 has begun for college age youth and adults who have been on at least 1 SMP or WMP with Lewinsville. This year, we'll head to Johns Island, South Carolina to work with Sea Island Habitat (where Forrest Gottke is currently working with Americorp). They provide housing, you'll be responsible for your own meals. The cost is $200 and dates are January 3-10. CLICK HERE to sign up on-line by October 17. Note from “LB” - I hope you will introduce yourselves to our new Director of Youth Ministries, Amanda Tomkins, if you haven’t already. It has truly been my honor and privilege to serve as your Interim Youth Director these past 18 months and I’m proud of the youth program Amanda is inheriting. I will look forward to seeing it grow and prosper under her full-time care. See you in church!

Sunday morning activities for youth begin September 14, 9:45-10:45AM:

• Confirmation class for current high school freshmen, or older youth who have not previously joined the church, will meet in room 104. Confirmation orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3 at 7:30PM. All interested participants and their parents should plan to attend.
• Discussion class for middle schoolers will meet in the Youth Center, led by Al Robinson and David and Patti Gunter.
• The youth-led discussion class for senior highs (10th-12th grades) will meet in the parlor. Elizabeth Steel is the class mentor.
